Apple unveils the iPad mini

As expected, Apple unveiled the iPad mini at its event this morning. This smaller iPad includes many new features that distinguish it from the larger iPad.

The iPad mini comes with a 7.9-inch display, bigger than the displays of its competition. The resolution of this display is the same as the iPad 2. The iPad mini is just 7.2mm thin, making it 53% lighter than the current iPad.

Apple has used the A5 chip in the iPad mini, which lets apps run to their full potential. The iPad mini still manages to get 10-hour battery life, similar to that of its larger counterpart.

Other included features are the Lightning connector, LTE and a 5-megapixel camera.

The iPad mini will come in two colour varieties, white and silver, and black and slate.

The iPad mini costs $329 for the entry-level 16GB Wi-Fi model, and the price steadily increases as more storage and cellular are included.

We will have a more in depth look at the iPad mini later on today, so stay tuned to Apple 24 Seven.
