A report from Chinese site WeiPhone.com has claimed that a new iMac will be unveiled next week at Apple’s October 23rd iPad mini event. This new iMac will feature a redesigned body and thinner profile.
The iMac was last updated in May 2011, but this update looks to be much more significant, with the first body change for the computer in several years.
This report has come about following the release of a photo (seen above), featuring internal components on a future iMac model.
The new body is said to be “similar to (a) water droplet.”
The report also says that the new iMac’s screen is glued to the front glass of the machine, which should improve display quality.
In addition to this, the report also claims that the 21-inch model will be released first, with the 27-inch iMac coming later, presumably due to manufacturing difficulties considering the much larger screen.
The article also says that performance will be improved, most likely thanks to new Intel Ivy Bridge processors, and USB 3.0.
