Google wants its maps service to be available to everyone

One of the most significant features of iOS 6 is the new maps app. Apple moved away from Google’s popular maps service in favor of their own alternative, but it seems that this native iOS 6 app will have a competitor very soon.

Search Engine Land’s Danny Sullivan quizzed Google about the possibility of a new maps app for iOS, and this is what he was told:

We believe Google Maps are the most comprehensive, accurate and easy-to-use maps in the world. Our goal is to make Google Maps available to everyone who wants to use it, regardless of device, browser, or operating system.

It seems that Google does not want Apple to have the most popular maps app on iOS. Just like they did with their new YouTube app, Google should be releasing a new maps app on iOS in the near future.
