Nowadays, pretty much everyone owns a smartphone, and why wouldn’t they? The uses for these pocket supercomputers are growing on a regular basis, as is the demand for more and more smartphones. Adaption rates for smartphones have been extremely high right throughout the world in the past few years, so Flurry, a mobile application analytics company did a little research on the matter, and the results are quite interesting.
What Flurry found out is that iOS and Android revolution is bigger than any other digital revolution in history.
The rate of iOS and Android device adoption has surpassed that of any consumer technology in history. Compared to recent technologies, smart device adoption is being adopted 10X faster than that of the 80s PC revolution, 2X faster than that of 90s Internet Boom and 3X faster than that of recent social network adoption. Five years into the smart device growth curve, expansion of this new technology is rapidly expanding beyond early adopter markets such as such as North America and Western Europe, creating a true worldwide addressable market.
The biggest growing market over the past year, China, has seen more than 100 million new devices enter the market. The US, the other big market, had 30 million new devices sold.

As seen above, China’s growth rate is astonishing, with a 401% increase over the past year.
