Apple confirms release date for OS X Mountain Lion

During Apple’s third quarter earnings press release, Tim Cook announced that OS X Mountain Lion would be launching on the 25th of July.

We’re thrilled with record sales of 17 million iPads in the June quarter,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “We’ve also just updated the entire MacBook line, will release Mountain Lion tomorrow and will be launching iOS 6 this Fall. We are also really looking forward to the amazing new products we’ve got in the pipeline.

Since it is currently still the 24th in the United States, we will have to wait a little longer for Mountain Lion, but it should be coming within the next 24 hours. Mountain Lion is set to cost about $20 (depending on your locale), a drop from last year’s iteration of OS X, which was priced at $30.
